Saheed Adepoju: My Journey to the United States and the Path to Faith

Saheed Adepoju was born into a Muslim family with a mother who, although nominally Christian then, became more devout as the years passed. As a young boy, around 12 or 13, Saheed first read the Gospel, finding it easy to understand due to its English language. However, when he was 29 or 30, he informed his father about his conversion to Christianity. As a result, Saheed found himself in a debate with three Muslim clerics on subjects such as the Trinity and the authority of the Gospels.

Saheed believes that he discovered his saving faith around 2012 or 2013 when the gravity of human sinfulness and the significance of the Gospel resonated with him. Even though he had been attending church, the Word of Faith doctrines exposed him to different perspectives. His friend and brother in faith, Chris Okogwu, clarified misconceptions around specific texts that had been misinterpreted, including Ephesians 4:11-16, which details how Jesus provided gifts for the church’s edification.

During this period, Saheed had begun attending a New Apostolic Reformation church that preached the continued existence of apostles. However, Chris demonstrated from the text that this belief was no longer valid, and from then on, Saheed embarked on a journey to understand and embrace the true Gospel.

Saheed first visited the United States in April 2014. He had applied for a US visa at the Abuja American Consulate in Abuja, Nigeria two years prior, having launched the first Android tablet in Nigeria and Africa. Consequently, he received an invitation to speak at a private event in Houston. Unfortunately, the date scheduled for his visa interview was a week after the speaking engagement. When asked about his intentions for traveling to the US during the interview, Saheed mentioned that he no longer had a reason to travel since he had missed the event. Nevertheless, he was granted a visa on account of his entrepreneurial achievements.

In August 2015, Saheed moved to the US on a student visa and pursued a degree in computer science at Prairie View A&M University. He graduated in May 2017, and in June of the same year, his family relocated to San Jose, California, where he began working as a software engineer for Intel. By 2019, the family had received their permanent resident cards.

In 2023, Saheed founded DigitalTees, a graphic tees company that aims to help customers understand and appreciate the images they wear. To achieve this, DigitalTees employs AI tools such as Midjourney and ChatGPT to streamline the process of creating designs that wearers will enjoy and cherish.

Saheed Adepoju’s journey, both in his faith and his life in the United States, has been one of growth, transformation, and self-discovery. His experiences have shaped his beliefs and enabled him to forge a successful career as an entrepreneur and software engineer. Through his endeavors, he continues to make an impact on those around him, fostering understanding and enlightenment in both his personal and professional life.
